SeedDMS is available in two versions, which are both updated frequently.
Version 6.0.x
Version 6.0.x was first released in Feb. 2020. It has additional features like a scheduler, new workflows and a possibility to restrict operations based on roles. If you are new to SeedDMS or want to setup a new installation, then go for this version.
The latest version of the 6.0.x branch is 6.0.42
Version 5.1.x
Version 5.1.x is quite mature and was first released in Feb. 2017. It still receives all updates (including new features) unless they are related to features only available in version 6.0.x. All bug fixes and security fixes will first enter 5.1.x and will than be merged into 6.0.x. If you are running SeedDMS 5.1.x and not missing any features, then there is currently no need to upgrade to 6.0.x.
The latest version of the 5.1.x branch is 5.1.49
Extensions
SeedDMS can easily be extended with extensions. There are already several of them available at codeberg
scanservjs_client
Scanservjs is a web based scanner software. This extension adds an extra field to the upload form when updating or adding a document. Please read the article about scanservjs on how to use this extension.
menu_import
This extension was inspired by a workflow for adding scanned documents. Software like Scanservjs can upload scanned files to a configured folder in SeedDMS. Instead of checking this folder regularly for new documents, this extension will add another sub menu in the main menu containing all documents in that folder.
paperless
Paperless NGX is another popular DMS with an API. This API is implemented by this extension for SeedDMS, allowing to use clients, originally created for Paperless NGX to be used with SeedDMS. Please read the article about Paperless NGX for more information.
paperless_client
Just as SeedDMS can act like a Paperless NGX Server, this extension turns it into a Paperless client. It allows to download single files from Paperless NGX right into SeedDMS, just like uploading it from your local disc.
prometheus_metrics
Prometheus is an open-source systems monitoring and alerting toolkit. Prometheus collects and stores its metrics as time series data. This extension provides the data to Prometheus. See also the article about this extension.
ntfy_notification
Ntfy is a simple HTTP-based pub-sub notification service. The integration of ntfy in SeedDMS is implemented with this extension.
oai pmh
The Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) is a mechanism to expose meta data by a data provider. SeedDMS may act as such a data provider delivering meta data of those documents stored in SeedDMS with this extension.
filebin
Filebin is a web application that facilitates convenient file sharing over the web. There are no accounts, no access restrictions, and no folder hierarchy, but just an Url with a secret hash in it. SeedDMS can be turned into a similar system by this extension.
audd
Audd is a service to recognize songs and returns lots of information. This extension cuts a portion out of a song, sends it to Audd and output the returned information to the user.
credential_mgr
Various extensions in SeedDMS need credentials to access an external service, e.g. Paperless NGX, audd, etc. This extension is for managing this credentials.
unoserver
Converting documents between formats is one of the outstanding features. This extensions implements conversion of many office formats into pdf, png, and txt, by talking to unoserver which does the actual conversion.
